The City Clerk’s office is housed in the same building as the Fire Station at 128 W. Lincoln Street.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.  The mailing address is PO Box 247, Walcott, IA  52773-0247.

The City Clerk’s Department performs a wide variety of services including maintaining all records and documents of the City.  The following duties are also the responsibility of the City Clerk’s Department:  Annual Budget and Financial Reports, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Water/Sewer/Solid Waste Utility Billing and Receipting, Licenses and Permits, custodial of all funds of the City, and coordination of the Tax Increment Financing program.  The City Clerk's Department is responsible for preparing agendas and reporting proceedings for the City Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustments, Park Board, and Economic Development Committee.        

2006/2007 BUDGET LEVY RATE

For the FY 2006/2007 budget, the tax levy rate will remain at $9.75000 per $1,000 valuation on regular property.  Copies of the City's annual budget are available at the Clerk's office.

NEW CUSTOMERS

New customers are required to complete a utility sign up form and pay a $70.00 deposit to the City of Walcott at the City Clerks office for water/sewer service.  Other utility services to contact are:

WATER, SEWER AND REFUSE RATES

Water, sewer and refuse bills are due on or before the twentieth of every month.  Payments can be made at City Hall or the Walcott Trust and Savings Bank.  Delinquent payments are not accepted at the bank.  If it is after the twentieth, you must pay at City Hall.  A drop box is available at City Hall if the office is closed.  Refuse and recyclables are collected every Monday except for legal holidays, collection will be on Tuesday.  Recycling is a free service, with no charge billed to the resident.  Recycling bins are available at City Hall at no charge with a limit of one per residence.  If you should move, however, please leave the bin at your current residence.

·        Water rates - $3.50 per 1000 gallons

·        Sewer rates - $3.15 per 1000 gallons plus $3.00 base rental  rate per month

·        Refuse rates - $10.24 per month

 

ANIMAL LICENSES/TAGS

Every owner of a dog or cat over the age of six months shall obtain a dog or cat license on or before the first day of April of each year.  The annual license fee is $3.00 for each dog or cat.  Please bring in a proof of rabies vaccinations when applying for a license.
